Transportation Weekly (TW) and Congressional Quarterly are reporting some progress on extending SAFETEA-LU that could limit the shut-down of USDOT.   Rep. Oberstar, and Senate and House leaders have reached an agreement their transportation policy differences that could enable the House to pass the Reid jobs bill, which extends T-LU through March.

TW reports that "Oberstar’s agreement, however, does not solve the other problems with the Reid bill. Liberal Democrats still dislike the bill because it rejects House-passed spending priorities and is too small, while moderate and conservative Democrats still don’t like that they have to waive pay-as-you-go budget rules to bring up the bill.

The earliest that the House could vote on the Reid bill is Tuesday, assuming that the Rules Committee meets on the bill on Monday night."
