"If a bill comes to my desk with earmarks inside, I will veto it. I will veto it" - President Obama, in last week's State of the Union speech.
And so, we can expect the earmarks in the FY 2011 appropriations bill to disappear. You won't have to bother with filling out forms for the FY 2012 earmarks either. And the odds of FY 2013 earmarks (the bill crafted in the federal election year) are slim and none.
This is particularly bad news for local agencies and tribes, who receive the bulk of transportation earmarks (not State DOTs). View the list of WA 2011 earmarks which are now canceled.
