House Transportation Chair is sometimes portrayed as opposing high speed passenger rail. Yet yesterday he expressed disappointment at Wednesday's decision by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to cancel a major high-speed passenger rail program backed by $2.4 billion in federal grants.

The Journal of Commerce reports Mica's statement:
"I am deeply disappointed in the decision to not move forward with the Orlando to Tampa passenger rail project," Mica said in a statement supplied by his spokesman. "This is a huge setback for the state of Florida, our transportation, economic development and important tourism industry."
